Comet SL-9 Heading for Jupiter David Levy has appears regularly on television and radio programs devoted to astronomy, and is probably best known as a comet discoverer. His 21 comet discoveries make him tied for third place in history for the largest number of comet finds. Perhaps the most famous of which is the co-discovery of comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 that impacted Jupiter in July 1994.
David's energy towards interpreting the sky and teaching others about astronomy from all age groups is seemingly unbounded. He has given over four hundred major public lectures in several countries, authored over 20 books about astronomy and astronomers, and written over 300 articles in scientific magazines and journals, including 7 obituaries of Clyde Tombaugh and 6 of Gene Shoemaker during 1997.

Let's Talk </A>Stars David and his wife Wendee host "Let's Talk Stars", a radio talk show devoted to astronomy and astronomers. The show is sponsored by Starizona and is broadcast on AM radio station KTKT in Tucson, and web cast at www.letstalkstars.com. Levy is also Adjunct Scientist at Flandrau Planetarium, and Senior instructional specialist at the University of Arizona, where he runs a program that brings astronomy into schools in Arizona.
Levy is the founder of The National Sharing the Sky Foundation (NSSF), whose mission is to inspire young people to reach for the stars. The Sharing the Sky Foundation seeks to inspire people, especially children, with the magic and beauty of the night sky. Through lecture presentations, guided activities, and education, NSSF seeks to promote intelligent awareness of astronomy and its allied sciences.
