The idea for the conference was inspired by [[Allan Green]] (President of the Rockland Astronomy Club), who came up with the name "Northeast Astronomy Forum" (NEAF) and [[Al Nagler]] (founder of TeleVue). Allan established the first event with [[Don Urban]], who brought important organizational changes to the RAC, including holding regular meetings, and established NEAF to be the event it is today.
